Woodside LNG Tanks Karratha ---------1988 ----- $150m

System Features:

  • Four LNG cryogenic storage tanks
  • 63.8m diameter, 32.8m high, each
  • Total volume: tank and insulation = 105,000m3 per tank
  • Operating temperature = minus 161 degrees celsius
  • 9% nickel inner storage liner
  • Perlite insulation system
  • Carbon steel outer liner
  • Reinforced concrete outer shell
  • Blast encasement - 163,000 m3 earth fill, each
  • 14,000 m2 rip rap embankment each
  • Aluminum inner 'ceiling'
  • Roof dome fire spray system
  • Fire proofed product loadout pipe bridge
  • Submerged loadout pump system and piping
  • Instrumentation and controls
  • Constructor: Leighton - TKK JV.
